General questions

How do I set MessagePoint as default screen saver?

Click Start > Control Panel > Appearance and Themes > Choose a screen saver. There you will find a list of all screen savers that are installed on your computer. Select MessagePoint and hit OK.

How do I change the presentation that is played by MessagePoint?

Click Start > Control Panel > Appearance and Themes > Choose a screen saver. Now make sure MessagePoint is selected and click Settings. Here you can set or change the presentation that is played whenever the screen saver becomes active by clicking Browse.

Can I use the free Microsoft PowerPoint Viewer to run with MessagePoint?

For all automation you need to have the full PowerPoint product installed as the free PowerPoint Viewer does not support any automation.

I want to run DataPoint enabled presentations with MessagePoint. How?

This can be done in 2 ways. The simplest way is to use DataPoint Standard Edition and MessagePoint Standard Edition. Just create your dynamic presentation with DataPoint and MessagePoint will do the rest. Alternatively use DataPoint Enterprise Edition (to design the presentation) in combination with MessagePoint Enterprise Edition (to view-only the presentation). This alternative setup is only interesting when running MessagePoint in large volumes, otherwise the first implementation is advised.

Can I connect to PowerPoint presentations over the internet via HTTP or FTP?

Both MessagePoint Professional and Enterprise Edition can do that. This software will keep your computer's screen saver content synchronized with the presentation on the web server.
